According to the BoJ Survey, households anticipate an average annual increase in inflation of 11.5%.

"Japanese households expect inflation to rise by an average of 11.5% a year from now, with a median expectation of 10.0%," according to a quarterly survey released Friday by the Bank of Japan (BoJ).

Other lessons learned

In five years, Japanese households anticipate an average 9.2% increase in inflation, with a median expectation of 5.0%.

Compared to 85.6% in the previous survey, 85.7% of Japanese households anticipate price increases in the coming year.

Five years from now, 82.5% of Japanese households anticipate price increases, up from 83.6% in the previous survey.
